Performance of Asphalt Concrete Pavement Reinforced with High-Density Polyethylene Plastic Waste

This research investigates the possibility of using high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic waste to improve properties asphalt concrete pavement. HDPE contents 1, 3, 5, and 7% by aggregate weight were used. waste=stabilized pavement (HDPE-ACP) was evaluated performance testing for stability, indirect tensile strength, resilient modulus (MR), fatigue (ITF). In addition, microstructure, age, CO2 emissions savings analyses conducted. The test results HDPE-ACP better than those without waste. optimum content 5%, offering maximum MR, ITF, age. Scanning electron microscope images showed that excessive caused a surface rupture sample. Improvements in age samples observed compared with no highest sample found at an 5% weight. 67.85 kg CO2-e/m3 content.
